Maingear Launches Retro95: A Modern PC in a '90s-Era Case
Maingear has released the Retro95, a modern PC housed in a retro-styled beige desktop case reminiscent of the 1990s. Based on the Silverstone FLP01 case, the Retro95 features a nostalgic design, including simulated floppy disk drives concealing modern I/O ports. Internally, it boasts high-end components such as AMD's Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor, an RTX 5080 graphics card, up to 96GB of RAM, and up to 8TB of NVMe storage. Cooling is handled by Noctua fans.
The system includes a hidden 24x DVD-R drive and standard power and reset buttons, though it lacks a turbo button. Maingear emphasizes the limited availability of the Retro95, stating that once the initial stock is sold, it will not be restocked.
The Retro95 is available now at a starting price of $1,599.
Impact Statement: The Retro95's limited release and unique design are likely to appeal to PC enthusiasts and retro gaming fans, potentially creating a high demand for this niche product.
