The UN and its partners have launched a revised $120 million plan to aid over 380,000 displaced people in Tawila, North Darfur, over the next three months. The plan addresses critical needs including food, healthcare, water, sanitation, shelter, and protection. The health situation is deteriorating rapidly, with surging cases of cholera, measles, malaria, and trauma in Tawila, El Fasher, and Kebkabiya due to insecurity, closed health facilities, and supply shortages. A UN spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, stated that critical shortages of surgical supplies, essential medicines, and vaccines are pushing the health system to its limits.

Separately, 17 displaced people died from dehydration after their vehicle broke down in the desert. Markets in South Darfur face sharp price increases due to flooding, while escalating violence in the Kordofan region, including drone strikes, resulted in civilian casualties. The UN is calling for an immediate end to hostilities, protection of civilians and humanitarian workers, and increased international support.

Impact Statement: The escalating humanitarian crisis in Sudan requires significant international aid to prevent further suffering and loss of life.
